If you have been following my updates on Twitter and actually been following my advice you should have a bunch of followers by now. The way to get more followers on twitter as well as most other social sites is to post high quality content and to interact with your followers.

Twitter Friday is one way to interact with your followers and the people you follow.

Followfriday is a twitter user movement where twitter users recommend other twitter users to follow.

Followfriday is a great way to acknowledge people who post interesting things at the same time as you help your followers.

For this to make sense you have to build a focused list of followers all interested in the same subject as you. It’s a perfect match if you, for example, use twitter to keep people updated on your blog or web site.

So how to you do it?

On every Friday you write a tweet that recommends one of the people you are following. As an example lets say someone would recommend me on follow Friday. Then they would tweet something like this:

“My #followfriday @sitehype Great info on twitter and web traffic generation”

#followfriday is the hashtag for followfriday. Using this hashtag makes it easy for people to search for and use tools to find peoples recommendation.
@sitehype is my twitter username. You can recommend more than one user for followfriday.

You will most likely see #followfriday tweets from people you follow. You can also use
http://topfollowfriday.com/ , a web tool that displays the top people using followfriday for endorsement and who is endorsed.
