What is the #unfollowfriday Twitter hashtag

I wrote before about the twitter followfriday trend. Today it’s Friday and one of the hottest trends today has been #unfollowfriday.
Unfollowfriday is basically the opposite of followfriday. Twitter users let their followers and the world know who they will unfollow and why.
In general I don’t like the idea of unfollowfriday. It’s spreading bad will, and Twitter should be all about positive energy. On the other hand, if the idea can be used to purge Twitter from bots, spamming or plain rude people. Perhaps it can be used in the service of good? what do you think?
Personally I will not use unfollowfriday. Just like there is nothing good coming out of sharing negativity and bad feelings, I don’t see the benefits outweigh the drawback. Lets make Twitter a more friendly place instead of a more hostile place.
I will quietly unfollow people I don’t find interesting. No need to spread bad energy. After all it might just be me not liking or getting along with a certain person. Perhaps someone’s information that is worthless to me is gold for someone else.
