The Evil Social Media Marketing

Are you and I evil forces out to destroy and pollute the nice and friendly social networks aiming to help people connect in a better way?

Off course not! I claim the opposite and I explain why here.

Yes, there are ways of being annoying via social media but that goes for all communication in all marketing channels, I would say.  It all depends on the message and who is listening.

I always interpret a message via my needs, interests and wants and so does everybody else.

During my hunt for a new sofa on IKEA I had a very clear experience about difference in interpretation. Hungry and longing for a big plate of  Swedish meatballs, I smiled all the way to the restaurant after hearing that meatballs is one of the specialties at IKEA. The vegetarian in front of me simply muttered in a bitter tone, I could not even hear what he said. I have nothing against vegetarians, I wish I had the strength to be one my self but my point is about communication.

Communication, transferring of information between people is a major part of our success as a specie. Social networks is simply the latest step on the road of human communication. Earlier steps are Print, radio, Telephone , TV and email. Someone, a person or a group, have a message they want others to hear.

Social Media Marketing is a more naked and honest channel, than banners or a TV-commercials and this is why Social Media Marketing is very powerful. Reaching the right people, the potential customers and influence them by listening and helping. Communicating the right information to the right people. It is hard and not free, since it take time and skills. Done correctly, Social Media Marketing help the people in the social networks by filling a need or fulfilling a want.

I found a great sofa, IKEA is fantastic, that later on turned out to be too big for my living room. Need a bigger apartment:-)

I loved the meatballs.
