Social Media marketing spending will continue to increase according to Forrester’s new report and will in 2010 reach a level of $935 million. Even more optimistic is EMarketer, predicting annual spending in social media advertising to reach $1.3 Billion.

To me these numbers are not interesting at all, they don’t tell me much about my business and I am certain that is the case for many internet entrepreneurs and there is no point in looking at the 5 year forecast since that is a too long time to forecast.

Looking at the positive trend however is the real candy in these reports. It shows that Social media has reached a maturity and is a serious and important element in any marketing strategy for any company.

Most traditional marketing companies are still in the phase of learning how to leverage this new way of reaching people so if you are a fast learner with a mind for social media you have a golden opportunity to have a Klondike experience in the 2-3 upcoming years.
