In February Google launched Google buzz. This is an attempt on taking a bite of the Social Media cake that is worth a lot if you use eyeballs as currency. Knowing Google they will succeed and they have been on the outside of Social Media Marketing despite their success in other online marketing.

With one liners like:
1.Publish your ideas to the world or just to your closest friends.
2.Import your stuff from Twitter, Picasa, Flickr, and Google Reader.
3.New posts and comments pop in as they happen. No refresh required.
4.Buzz recommends interesting posts and weeds out ones you’re likely to skip.
5.Android

and millions of users in different communities already, Google Buzz will affect the way messages move across cyberspace.

What do think?

A:Will the Search Engine ResultPage(SERP) be affected?

B:Will there be a Banner ad business for Buzz?

C:Will it be the breakthrough of mobile advertisement and Location based ads?

Spill your mind and still my mind…………I will elaborate on these questions in the next post…..

Are you and I evil forces out to destroy and pollute the nice and friendly social networks aiming to help people connect in a better way?

Off course not! I claim the opposite and I explain why here.

Yes, there are ways of being annoying via social media but that goes for all communication in all marketing channels, I would say. It all depends on the message and who is listening.

I always interpret a message via my needs, interests and wants and so does everybody else.

During my hunt for a new sofa on IKEA I had a very clear experience about difference in interpretation. Hungry and longing for a big plate of Swedish meatballs, I smiled all the way to the restaurant after hearing that meatballs is one of the specialties at IKEA. The vegetarian in front of me simply muttered in a bitter tone, I could not even hear what he said. I have nothing against vegetarians, I wish I had the strength to be one my self but my point is about communication.

Communication, transferring of information between people is a major part of our success as a specie. Social networks is simply the latest step on the road of human communication. Earlier steps are Print, radio, Telephone , TV and email. Someone, a person or a group, have a message they want others to hear.

Social Media Marketing is a more naked and honest channel, than banners or a TV-commercials and this is why Social Media Marketing is very powerful. Reaching the right people, the potential customers and influence them by listening and helping. Communicating the right information to the right people. It is hard and not free, since it take time and skills. Done correctly, Social Media Marketing help the people in the social networks by filling a need or fulfilling a want.

I found a great sofa, IKEA is fantastic, that later on turned out to be too big for my living room. Need a bigger apartment:-)

I loved the meatballs.

Are you a digg user? Have you noticed what all the top stories have something in common? It’s not a catchy interesting grabbing title, even though that might be the first the comes into your mind.

The one thing that by definition all top stories share on Digg is many votes! Dohh, obvious you might say. That is true by definition. So listen, the fact that a story Had many votes is a big reason the story is one of the top stories.

Let’s take a dive into social psychology.

Have you caught yourself doing something without knowing why? For example, at an airport or trainstation suddenly realising that you are walking without knowing if you are going in the right direction?

Chances are that you are simply following the crowd.

All human beings are programmed to follow the herd. Most of the time this is a good idea, a safe idea. We simply do as others do by default.

Group behaviour plays out on the social sites every day.

Stories with many votes get even more eyes since we looks at what others do. These stories get more votes simply because humans follows the group.

This idea is exploited and amplified by the social sites.

You can and should use this knowledge to your own advantage.

You need to do what you can do to get your story its initial votes. An small initial effort might do a huge difference in the end.

So here are a few practical directions to get your vital initial votes:

Focus on few higher quality postings instead of many low quality posts.

Focus on a few selected social sites and do manual submission, get it right.

Tweak the submissions description to the audience of the social site

Use your personal friends and ask them to help you

Encourage people in your text to vote for it

Use Site-Hype : social traffic tool to get more initial votes and comments

Ask your Twitter followers to vote for your story.

Looking at a black sky with no stars and no moon I wonder why I haven’t booked my usual vacation to the sun yet.
I cant see the clouds but I know the gray, thick massive carpet is there since this has been the weather the last week. The Weather channel for real said that we will have several rains a day and in between that it will rain. November in Sweden is a dark period.

Luckily that gives me time to concentrate on work.

The improved November issue of the Twitter fact sheet is ready for you, answering these and other questions for you.

What is a Twitter list?
What is #?
Is it possible to find anyone on Twitter?
Does other people do Twitter automation?

As always it is condensed to just two pages for easy printing and reading.

Please add your feedback, questions and comments here on the blogg.

And, share this document to whoever you think need it.
Maybe it is something you can use as content on your site or blog?

I just have to share this with you since I know you are moving into the marketing by video arena and are probably struggling a bit with the technical side of the whole video editing thing.

Give Stupeflix images, videos , text and music and it produces high quality videos that are ready for youtube or why not Iphone. I have made a simple video ,using no sound, just to show how easy this is to use.

1.load in your images in my case screenshots of the latest version of social traffic tool
2.Put the images in the right order
3.Add text overlay of the images or in between the images
4.Click generate

Here is the result
http://studio.stupeflix.com/v/ZHx9F5jEX6/

This is not all the service can do, it has an open API so if you are a programming wiz, like my brother Fredrik, there is new world of possebilities opening up.

I just wanted to give you quick introduction on the tool. Please give me your ideas, comments or why not simple share your videos with me.

Dopplr has a team of seven people with offices in London and Helsinki. The Dopplr team brings to Nokia’s Services unit unique know-how in creating internet-based communities and showing their journeys, experiences and tastes collectively on the web.”

Nokia versus the world

Nokia is still a player to be reckoned with and they have always been very creative and thinking out of the box. Just because they have not successfully met the threat from Iphone or Android does not mean they are not trying.

To us without an iphone, we are very much liking Nokias social media focus and hope that it will bring lots of cool features tightly integrated into the Nokia mobiles.

The possibilities for more web site traffic?

This opens up even more for using social media as a locale marketing tool. It does matter putting in the extra effort for that cool Stockholm cafe using great images and descriptive comments AND making sure people VOTE for that place using Dopplr.

Here are the new sites added in the September update of my Twitter fact sheet. If you want the complete fact sheet you can download it for free from here :

Mr Tweet is a tool that helps you find great people and followers relevant to your interests. The service is still in beta but they already have an api and a Mozilla browser plug-in. Among other things Mr.Tweet uses recommendations to suggest people you might find interesting. You can give and receive recommendations through the service.

Twitter feed, , is a service that lets you autopost your tweets from one or more rss feeds, typically your blogs. Might be used to automate your twittering to some degree, I do not use this service personally but combined with for example yahoo pipes it has lots of potential.

Tweetbrain is a service that allows you to use Twitter to get answers to your questions. You can also use it as a tool to promote yourself in the twitter sphere and answer other peoples questions.

Twitter grader gives your twitter account a score. This one is useful to make sure you haven’t forgotten any of the basics. That could cost you lots and lots of followers

Finally Tweeteffect lets you monitor you following count after each of your tweets. It’s interesting to see which tweets caused you to gain or lose followers. Just remember that you must have quite a few followers for the numbers to be significant and that it might be hard to compare numbers over time since you most likely grown your number of followers over time.

Regardless it gives you a good idea of what works for your crowd on Twitter.

That’s all for this time, download the complete twitter fact sheet

Getting the first comment on your blog post is what’s required to get a conversion started and it will get you more traffic.

But it can be hard

If you don’t get that first comment in a reasonable time you will probably never get any comments at all. When a visitor reads an old post with no comments he is to be reluctant to be the first one to comment. It’s a bit like a shop that has no visitors. It’s hard work to get the first customer in the door but when you have people in the store that in itself will cause more people to come.

But that’s still not the real reason you want comments.

Comments counts as content for the search engines. The search engines sees a comment added to a page as if the page has been updated with more content ie it has higher value.

Constantly updated pages are going to get more frequent visits by the search engine spiders and are probably going to rank higher in the results. Even if a search engine actually can’t tell it sees new comments it does make sense. A page that is constantly getting more and more added information is relevant and probably up to date.

Btw, did you know that Google does have a human department helping with ranking web pages, its not all just done by computers?

Your signature on the comment

Adding relevant comments on relevant blogs is a source of traffic for you as well when you are allowed to leave your url. People are going to check out your comment and depending on how the blog is setup your link might even count as a backlink.

Yesterday I finished an update to the Site-Hype software that adds blog commenting. We are still giving away free site-hype accounts at our home page so give it a try if you haven’t signed up already. To use the blog commenting enter a user name on the socials page. The user name should be the one you are going to use when you are doing blog commenting for other users. Then when you submit the next time in the program make sure to check the “blog commenting box”

Twitterish by Mixx

Twitter must be doing something right as other social media sites just storm in and add something Twitterish to their site. Not long ago Facebook bought Friendfeed to arm themselfs with microblog capabilities and now Mixx launches Tweetmixx.

According to the Mixx team this is what Tweetmixx bring to the table:
”
A better way to search across twitter for content that is of most interest to you. No need to follow 10,000 people in hopes of finding the best content about the Beatles. Just enter “Beatles” in as an interest and we’ll find the best content being shared!

A Shortcut to just the links your friends are sending. We all have those friends that tweet great links that get lost among their AWESOME weekends and their mommy problems. Cut out the clutter and get just those links using the YourFriends view.

Automatic unpacking of all those itty bitty URLs into useful headlines and descriptions.

An all-in-one Twitter dashboard that replaces having to go to one place to tweet, another to do saved searches, another to see your friends’ links, another to check out hot topics, and yet another to see the most popular content on twitter! Whew–see how we like to save you time?

In short, Tweetmixx turns Twitter into a content recommendation site, even if you don’t follow anyone.”

This initiative are attempting to control the Twitter whirl wind, but is that really possible and is this the way to do it?

You tell me, in the comments

I really like the idea and I have had a positive experience so far.

Even if I can get this done using tweetdeck or other tools.

I will absolutely keep logging in to follow what this new site has to offer me.

Please comment and let us know your thoughts.
