Automation is the key to getting things done in general, if you find something you are repeating time and again you should try your best to automate it.

Twitter automation is the key for normal people to get lots of follower on Twitter. Sure, if you are a celebrity you can probably get followers just by putting your twitter name out there, and if you write on a big site or newspaper that might work as well. But even then, the simple fact is that automating a few of the things you should do with Twitter saves you time and effort.

Twittermass is an interesting service that allows you to automate a lot of common twitter tasks, I have seen most of its features before but it has a few new ones I haven’t seen before, and the user interface is really nice.

Twittermass require you to give access to your twitter account, that might be seen as a risk but I wouldn’t worry too much about it. If they did something bad with all accounts they would likely be closed down by twitter and I can’t think it would be worth it for them. The risk is more that their site might be hacked or something, but Twitters might be hacked as well.

So here are some of the interesting features in Twittermass and more are being added:.
• Auto Follow, auto follow users every day based on keywords they tweet about.
• Local Follow, auto follow local users based on keywords
• Manual Follow, just search and follow manually
• Follow Friday, setup automatic follow Friday messages based on who you interact with.
• Clone Followers, setup a new account following the same people you already are following
• Metrics, track the growth of the number of follower over time, this gave a bit of strange results when I tested it.
• Block Unwanted Users
• Track Keywords
• Track Followers
